Documented Steps
Steps | ScreenShots |
These will assume you have been sent an update email from the CouncilWise Support Team, titled PropertyWise Update Notification. |
Please note that the version displayed in these instructions may not reflect the updated version you have been sent.
Steps | Screen Shots |
Within the email will be specifics on the Version Upgrade itself, such as Bug Fixes, New Features, General Changes, Database Changes and any included Updated Documentation. Towards the bottom of the email, there is a " click here to download this release " hyperlink
Clicking this link will trigger a download of the Update file |
Save the file to your designated location, and rename to " PropertyWise.exe "
DO NOT attempt to replace any current PropertyWise.exe files at this stage!!
Once the file is downloaded, the process to update your site version of PropertyWise are as follows.
Steps | Screen Shots |
From within the Properties Module of PropertyWise, click File | System Utilities. Note : Appropriate User permissions from within the PropertyWise System are required for these steps - it's recommended you use your site-specific "SU" account
First we prevent users from logging into the System during the update process, by clicking the Disable Logins button
With the Logins disabled, we must close all the current sessions, by clicking the Current Sessions button
Here you will see a list of all Users and their opened PropertyWise Modules (Applications)
Select the first user (on by default), then click the "Apply To All Other Users (Not Me)" tick-box, then click the Ask Logoff button
Each User logged in, will receive a Auto-Logoff notification on their screen with a 15-second countdown timer |
If the user does NOT respond, they will be automatically closed out.
Note: that in the event that a user is logged into multiple Application Modules, they will still only receive 1 Auto-Logoff notification.
When all users are logged out (excluding the person doing the update), close PropertyWise, and replace the current PropertyWise.exe (the one your site is using), with the one you have downloaded from the Email (as per above).
Once replaced, log back into the Properties Module of PropertyWise (again, just the person doing the updates - since the Logins were disabled, you will be advised, but you will still be permitted to login). PropertyWise will run through the update process, making relevant changes as required (Database Table changes, etc).
Steps | Screen Shots |
After the update process has completed and Properties Module has opened, you may Enable the Logins once more, by clicking ' File ' and then ' System Utilities ', and click the ' Enable Logins ' button |
Once this is done, all users may re-open PropertyWise.
Please be sure to log out of the 'SU' account (if/where used) so as you do not perform regular tasks AS this user.

Also, if you are upgrading to PropertyWise 147 than you'll need to remove the primary keys on the following tables:
- RegApp_Bonds
- WM_Tolerances
- WM_Pension_Rebates
- WM_Readings
- WM_Tariffs
- WMs
Lastly, if you are attempting to update the product however you get a message to say that the version has expired than you can still perform the update by running the calculate daily interest process from the command line.
Note: That if you take this approach it *may* appear that the product has crashed, however the upgrade should still be taking place, it will simply not appear to be doing so.
C:\Propertywise\PropertyWise-547-000.exe a:CalculateDailyInterest e: *Your_LGS_Config_Name* u: *Username* p: *Password*
If this process does not work, than you *may* still be able to use an expired EXE as it has a 1 in 15 chance to let you login irrespective of if it's expired or not.
